About Colin Flood

Raised in a family where Colin’s Dad is a Builder, two brothers are Carpenters and two others are Decorators, it’s not surprising that Colin is also a Tradesman.

Apart from four years Farming, it has been a lifetime of Carpentry – and this brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills.

Colin has been building houses since the 1970s and has a varied portfolio - from building architecturally designed homes to all manner of projects, from bathroom and kitchen renovations to small and large house additions and alterations.

After spending five years in the UK working as a carpenter, in 2010 Colin headed back to New Zealand re-established himself in the Hawke's Bay Building scene. He has served on the Local Registered Master Builders Association for many years, carried out projects for many Local Government Departments as well as smaller projects around the Home.

Testimonials

"I hired Colin initially as a carpenter on recommendation from a friend to do the necessary works on my London flat last summer 2010. His level of craftmanship is now very apparent, especially now that I have been living with it for almost a year. He gave me superb advice & opened up other possibilities as solutions. Colin put together a cupboard, shelf & mantlepiece system which took up one entire wall in my living room and advised about the flooring. In my bedroom, he lowered & insulated my ceiling, advised on the plastering and other walling issues. He also designed and built the extensive wardrobe system. In my kitchen & bathroom he advised on the flooring and walling and created some brilliant solutions in my hallway. In any business trust is the first thing, competence and delivery come second and longevity is the final seal. I would have no hesitation in recommending Colin to anyone, it's a shame he's not still here in London!"

"Colin worked for us on an ambitious extension for the rear of our property in 2006/2007. It was a joy to work with Colin as he appreciates both quality and design, and was always prepared to think one step ahead in terms of achieving the desired finish. There were a number of important details where we were thoroughly dependent on Colin's skill and experience. For example hardwood frames for roof glazing running right across the width of the extension and cedar cladding, which was required on both internal and external walls. If you are looking for high quality work and need reliability, then Colin is thoroughly recommended."

"I would have no hesitation in recommending Colin Flood for any carpentry project. He has built fitted wardrobes, hung bannisters, and installed shelving and french doors for me over the past few months. They all look fantastic and were sensibly priced. Colin takes pride in his work. On one job, the standard of work done by the painters wasn't up to Colin's high standards, so he made them come back and do it again. I just wish he wasn't leaving England!"

"I employed Colin in March 2010 to do a number of carpentry and joinery jobs in my home. I found him to be extremely hardworking and diligent and very adaptable.  He was a very good timekeeper and the quality of his work was excellent and to a very high standard. Colin was friendly and enthusiastic and was always willing to offer advice on any aspect of the work. He also had a very good network of other tradesmen, which was a real bonus for me, as I had recently moved to the area. I would have no hesitation in recommending Colin."

"We engaged the services of Colin Flood to help us create a bespoke gothic style kitchen using original antique paneling from the famous Liberty Department Store in London, UK and stained glass stores reclaimed from an old church. Over and above the fact that this was not a typical brief, we had a very tight budget. Furthermore, none of the dimensions were comparable with a standard kitchen design. Colin did a superb job in locating suppliers and working through the challenges. He was reliable, efficient and quick to respond to questions and concerns. Indeed, when the kitchen designer and cabinet maker both made some serious mistakes, it was Colin that stayed the course with us to help us resolve matters. The end result is breathtaking. 6 months later I am still in awe of the palace Colin has created for us. Thank you Colin."

Colin Flood conducted some major works for us that included: New ensuite bathroom, Fitted wardrobes, Built in cabinets and bookshelves, Revamp of family bathroom, Fitted shelves. We truly enjoyed our experience with Colin, he was very meticulous, his work was finished to a high quality, he organised his subcontractors to be involved at the right time, and he also held the subcontractors to his high standard of delivery. In addition, Colin was a great communicator and ensured that we were involved with the process along the way, and discussed and agreed as changes were necessary.  The end result – areas of our home have been beautifully transformed and although this work has been completed nearly a year ago, we still routinely comment on how satisfied we are with the modifications. Without hesitation we would recommend Colin, and we look forward to working with him again in the future on some additional updates to our home.
